Poor kid needs some manly boots
Isn't it sad when kids have to wear hand-me-downs. I understand the concept but sometimes it just isn't right. As a child myself, I had a really short bob or bowl cut I guess you could call it. Well, I wore my brother's hand-me-downs and to this day I remember a few comments on "what a cute little boy" my parent's had.....so I guess I shouldn't make that mistake especially with it turned around so that Beckham is wearing Brooklyn's clothes.

While I am on the whole sad ways to dress your kid.........
So here is one of those pictures that Beckham is going to kill Chris and I about. But, we will have to tell him it was his idea. You see he loves putting shoes and socks on and most of all his Elmo slippers. Well, if you haven't noticed some of the strange things from my childhood are making a comeback.....like leg warmers. Brooklyn has a few pair and of course Beckham wanted to try them on. So here he is....

Twilight......and more than we bargained for...
So, the weekend finally came and went. It was one many of my friends and I had been waiting for. Twilight was in the theatre. A group of about 20 of us girlfriends decided to have a fun Saturday afternoon at the movie and then eating afterward.
First I must tell you that I had heard about this Twilight book forever and ever and tried not to read it, first of all because I don't have time and second of all it's hard enough for me to find time to read the Ensign or BOM. But I was talked into it. I started reading it and was going to stop...I felt like I was a little teenager, it was weird and slow going, but people kept telling me it got better.....well it did and I ended up reading all four books in 6 weeks!
Anyway, back to the present. I have taken on some of my husband's annoying traits, such as analyzing way to much into movies. So I didn't go to the movie expecting a lot but I expected some of the scenes to be a bit better than they were. First, I did not like Edward, I thought he was not cute and that he just acted weird, I didn't picture him being so odd in the book. He also walked weird, I know I know that sounds funny, but he did, there was just one scene that made me giggle....just thinking about it made me giggle right now.
The rest of the casting was ok...I actually thought that Rosalie would have been prettier....but everyone else was good, especially Charlie and Alice. For anyone who hadn't read the book, I don't quite know how they followed it, it jumped around a lot and then would explain everything really fast and then there were scenes that they changed that I was disappointed with. I am still laughing at how Edward all of a sudden says, "You have to see what I look like in the sunlight" and then just grabs her and runs...it was so awkward and poorly done.
Ok, I will quit criticizing, because I am probably driving some of you fans nuts with my own interpretations, but I really did think they could have done better, and I hope that they do better with the next ones.
Lastly, I did enjoy seeing it come to life and it was an entertaining movie despite my little quirks I found.......I do have to say that HSM3 was much more worth the wait....but that's just me...gotta see it, it was awesome!
Ok, so now that I am done describing the goods and bads of the movie, what happened next will blow your mind! All of us girls walked out of the theatre starting to gab about the movie, the likes and dislikes and headed down to the food court. We found a big table that could seat all of us and we each took turns going for different yummy foods. Just when we were starting to eat, we heard some loud bangs and wondered what it was, then there was silence for a second and then the rumbling of feet and a wave of people running toward where we were sitting. It was like a scene out of a movie. I thought for a second that some dinosaur was going to come jumping out and chase us. But within that second of me trying to process what was going on, I realized that the banging noise had been gun shots. The people running toward us had the look of terror as they were trying to scramble to some safe place.
My friend, Janeece, jumped up and said "get down", we both ran over and hid behind a counter at first and then Janeece saw that there was a door leading outside and she ran for it...I saw the rest of my group of people underneath our table and I crawled over to them and joined them as we huddled close and pulled all the chairs in around our table. At this point, we had no idea if this "shooter" was randomly shooting or if it was just a few shots and he took off. We stayed under the table until police came through to gather us up and evacuate the building. We found everyone and made sure everyone was ok and that we were all headed out to our cars. The only person we couldn't find was Janeece who had run outside. She was superwoman, she was outta there. She went out onto a balcony and followed other people who climbed down the wall of the building and she ran all the way across the parking lot and street to Target. Luckily her husband was in the area and came and picked her up.
I'm not making fun of you Janeece, I am glad you are safe...but as I was telling Chris about Super Janeece we started laughing about how she did an awesome job at saving herself and mastering climbing down a wall and we joked about the Seinfeld episode where George was at a child's birthday party where there was a fire and he pushed old people and kids out of the way and saved himself......of course she didn't push people out of the way or anything but it was funny at how we were all together in a group and she had made it clear across the parking lot and street and we were still huddled under a table....after I had found out that she had gotten all the way over there, I was wishing that she was "Edward" with his superfast power and could have threw me on her back and taken me with her! Love ya Janeece!!
Well then since they evacuated everyone at the same time, gridlock.........we did not get out of the parking lot for 2 hours! I made it home 2 1/2 hours later, crazy! We all made it home safe and sound and a little more leary about malls!

Halloween
Here are the Halloween pictures of the kids that I took at a gig I had. Brooklyn loved being a witch and Beckham was the cutest "mooing" cow. I took photos at Park West Nursing Center where they were having trick or treating, food and a carnival. It was a success. The background was so cute and I also made some frames to sell along with the pictures, they turned out so cute!

Playgroup Olympics
Playing catch up, this was supposed to post a while back but I didn't get around to it till now.
So back at the end of August I hosted a playgroup with the kids from church to have an end of summer party. I decided that we should do Olympics. We used the park by our house and the kids had a blast. We did an egg/spoon race, ball toss, obstacle course, and water balloon toss. We ended with a medal ceremony (gold candy coins on yarn)and red, white and blue rice krispie treats. I was in charge of it all so I didn't have my camera, but my friend Kim took these, we really had fun!

I never thought I would like sewing this much!!
So, a few blog posts ago you saw the pillowcase dress I made for Brooklyn. I actually like to use them as a long shirt instead. Well, I made two more, check them out! I also made a hat to go with one, corkers to go with another, and button pony-o's for the other one for her hair. It was sew fun making them. I can't wait to make some in the spring for summer time.
Also, Brooklyn sings to her High School Musical 3 CD all day every day and pretends that she is Gabriella. Well, she found my base makeup and figured out how to open it and put it on her hands and face and said, "Mommy, I found some brown lotion and now I look like Gabriella." I laughed and laughed. Then she was telling me she wanted a dress like Gabriella and black hair. So I am making her wish come true. I looked up a Gabriella dress online, $25, yeah right for dress up clothes!!! I went and got material for $7 came home, made up a pattern and made this dress. I was so excited and Chris was impressed that I just whipped it up, it was fun! I can't wait for her to open it. I ordered a Gabriella wig and I am going to make a bow out of the dress material to go in the hair. So fun!!!

Halloween Party
A bunch of us went with our kids to the community center Halloween party. We had a ton of fun. The kids played with all the many toys, and jumped in the bounce house. They also had carnival games, the cutest was the cake walk and ring toss. They got to paint pumpkins, color pictures and have a snack. We made sure to take a picture of the two cows with Montana rancher grandpa's, they were so cute! Check out the pics below.

The seasons change and so do the decorations, ya gotta keep up!
We all have been enjoying the fall leaves, they seemed to have stayed extra long this year and the colors were gorgeous. Well, the Sunday after Halloween we took a walk to gather leaves to dry at home and hang from our ceiling. We took down all the Halloween decorations and put up a few Thanksgiving things. The kids had fun getting outside and picking up leaves and throwing them around. Brooklyn loves to pull the wagon instead of ride in it...to bad Chris and I are too big. Beckham enjoyed his ride just pointing and smiling and babbling. Here is our finished product.

Brooklyn's new shirt/dress for family pics
Ok, so I got this idea from my friend, Karina. She was talking about these adorable pillowcase dresses someone was selling and I thought, those are awesome! Then I saw the price and said, "mmm, maybe I can make it myself." So I went to a sale a Joann's and got some awesome fabrics and went to my cousin, Lori's, house to make one for Brooklyn and one for Tallulah. Lori was nice enough to let me use her machine since mine broke and I sold it. We had a blast making them and the kids just played and had a good time. They were so easy and we are going to make a few more! I found the hat to match and sewed little flowers on it. Pretty cute huh?
Pumpkin Carving
Here are the kids (Brooklyn and Chris) carving a pumpkin. We just did pumpkin tattoos for Beckham's pumpkin since he doesn't like to touch anything sticky or gooey (we found that out after we tried to get him to eat his birthday cake).
Brooklyn drew her own design and did a great job and daddy did it just like the picture. She was very proud of it and loved getting all gooey!
Beckham loved doing the pumpkin tattoos he would help hold them on the pumpkin with a wet washrag and was so excited when we took it off and there was a face on there, what a cute kid!
They had a great time lighting the candle and oooing and ahhing over the pumpkin and loved putting it out on the porch and blowing out the candle and lighting it over and over again. After that, every time we left the house or came home, Beckham had to go over and pat the pumpkins and check to see if there was fire in there.
